Piret Jaaks (1980) is an internationally recognised Estonian prose, drama and children's author.

 

Her debut novel "Daughters of Heaven" (2023) won third place in the Estonian novel competition and initiated a wide response in society and became a bestseller. It is about brave women missionaries saving children during World War I, which resonates strongly with what is happening in the world today.

Her children's book "Mommy's Dragon" (2019) has gathered international acclaim, including recognition in the prestigious White Ravens catalog in Germany and the Golden Pear award in Slovenia (2020). "Mommy's Dragon" has been published in Spain and South America in addition to Estonia, Slovenia and Croatia.

Piret is also a distinguished playwright who has won the Estonian playwrighting competition twice. Her works have been performed in several European countries, including Germany, Finland, Slovenia, and others.
